Fernando Forestieri has been sidelined through injury since the end of November but there has been a positive development in his comeback bid.
The attacking midfielder recently featured in an U23 game, with manager Garry Monk stating that his progress will be monitored as he rebuilds his fitness.
Monk has admitted that he is looking for reinforcements which suggests the Italian may still be some way off, but if he can stay fit until the end of the season he should have a role to play.

However, he has only played in nine league games so far this campaign and made just 15 Championship starts in 2018/19. As a result, there are a number of fans who have grown impatient and have directed criticism at the 30-year-old.
Their views are perfectly understandable given the fact that Forestieri is on £25k per week yet has consistently failed to produce for the Owls.
He has demonstrated his talent in South Yorkshire by making 56 goal contributions in 125 games, but in recent years he has declined, as highlighted by his return of one and six goals scored in 2019/20 and 2018/19 respectively.
Until he returns to his best form the criticism of him is only likely to continue, though there is a minority of supporters who are defending him. They point to his obvious quality and suggest the team would be fairing a lot better if Monk was able to call upon the former Watford player more often, though there is no proof of that.
