Manchester United are plotting a swap deal to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa after Andre Onana suffered an injury in pre-season training. Manchester United were dealt a massive injury blow as their first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, was ruled out of the club's pre-season with a hamstring problem. Early assessment of the player's condition suggested he could miss six to eight weeks of action; however, the reported earlier this week that the injury may not be as serious as initially feared.

now reports that, amid doubts over Onana's exact return date, United officials are internally assessing whether to proceed with their current crop of young goalkeepers or pursue a seasoned custodian like Martinez. The club could even consider offering players in exchange for the Argentine, although they are yet to initiate formal talks with Aston Villa.
