Romário’s place in football history is beyond question. He was a central figure in Brazil’s 1994 World Cup triumph in the United States, where his outstanding performances earned him the Golden Ball, awarded to the tournament’s best player. That same year, he was named FIFA World Player of the Year, capping off one of the most dominant seasons of any forward in history. He was included in the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in 2002 and was honoured in the FIFA 100 list of greatest living players, curated by Pelé, in 2004.

After a difficult spell at Manchester United following his £85 million move from Ajax, the winger has rediscovered his spark in La Liga. Since joining Real Betis on loan in January, the 24-year-old has found the net eight times across just 21 matches—an impressive return given his previous struggles in England. He played a significant role in firing Betis to the Conference League final, scheduled for May 28 in Wroclaw, Poland, where they will meet Chelsea.
