According to reports from ESPN, Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Hull City defender Josh Tymon, whilst Everton and Liverpool are also interested.
Who?
Josh Tymon may not be a household name yet but a number of the Premier League’s top clubs are taking an interest in his development. Indeed, ESPN documented interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur back in May, whilst their latest report puts Everton and Liverpool in the frame as well.
So many big clubs, all with pretty strong records in the transfer market, can’t be wrong and the left-back has already made some headway in the England fold, picking up three caps for the U17 squad.
Tymon made his Premier League debut against Sunderland last weekend and although the Tigers lost 3-0, simply featuring in the top flight was an impressive achievement for the 17-year-old, who has also made two appearances in the League Cup this season.
What’s the word, then?
As already mentioned, Arsenal are ‘stepping up’ their interest in Tymon, who is still on a scholarship deal at the KCOM Stadium – making him one of the worst-paid players to appear in the Premier League so far this season.
The absence of a professional contract only increases his availability to potential suitors, also including long-term admirers Everton and Liverpool, although Hull are hoping to agree a new deal with the youngster with talks already underway. All three clubs are said to be weighing up swoops for the teenage defender.
How did Tymon fare against Sunderland?
Whilst Arsenal are particularly well-endowed on the left of defence through Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs, Everton and Liverpool could both offer Tymon a decent dose of Premier League football should he make a move, with gaps appearing at No.3. Indeed, age and injury problems are catching up with Toffees favourite Leighton Baines, whilst James Milner has served as the Reds’ emergency left-back this season with Jurgen Klopp seemingly losing all faith in Alberto Moreno.
Although the teenager may seem some way off holding down a regular berth at a major club, his Premier League debut was certainly a positive one. Despite being on the end of a 3-0 battering from the Black Cats, Tymon completed one tackle, one interception, one block, 39 passes and ten clearances – the second-most of any Hull player after Curtis Davies.
