Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has claimed that Alan Hutton is likely to be on the treatment table for “a few weeks”.
The club have been dealing with quite the injury crisis, with numerous first-team members out of action.
Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish have been big misses in recent matches, while January arrival Axel Tuanzebe is also suffering.
During Villa’s dramatic 4-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, the Midlands outfit picked up a fresh blow as Hutton damaged his hamstring.
The defender was forced off the pitch in the 51st minute and until he regains fitness, Neil Taylor is likely to step up.
Hutton is naturally a right-back, but has been used on the left for the majority of the season.
With the 33-year-old switching roles, it allowed Ahmed Elmohamady to maintain a place in the team.
According to the Birmingham Mail, while discussing the injury blow, Bruce said:
“We went to Sheffield Wednesday with four or five missing already, so to lose Alan was a blow. We’re fortunate that when he goes down we’ve got someone like Neil Taylor to come on. That’s not a bad replacement, is it? We don’t want anymore injuries, though. It’s a hamstring problem and it’ll be a while for him. We’ll be without him for a few weeks now. It’s a shame because he’s been fantastic.”
Villa currently sit third in the Championship, four points adrift of the automatic promotion places.
