According to reports in The Leicester Mercury, Leicester City manager Claude Puel is hoping to loan out some of his fringe players in the next couple of weeks, and Celtic should look to snap up the out-of-favour Danny Simpson.
What’s the word, then?
Well, according to The Leicester Mercury, the right-back is one of the players that could leave before August 31 as he currently finds himself third-choice behind Danilo Pereira and Daniel Amartey, despite being a crucial part of the Foxes team that lifted the Premier League trophy just over two years ago.
The 31-year-old will surely want to get out and play regular football, and while only Championship clubs can sign him on loan in England, Celtic can also still bring the defender north of the border, too.
The Bhoys suffered a blow when they were knocked out of the Champions League this week following a 3-2 aggregate defeat to AEK Athens, with their defence proving to be one of their biggest downfalls in the 2-1 second-leg defeat in the Greek capital.
Why should Celtic sign Simpson?
As things stand right now in the Bhoys’ starting defence, only Kieran Tierney looks good enough to start on a regular basis, with right-back Mikael Lustig suffering a bit of a nightmare showing against AEK on Tuesday with him arguably taking at least a portion of the blame for both goals for the hosts.
The Swede was selected ahead of Cristian Gamboa, much to the confusion of Celtic fans on Twitter who want the Costa Rican in the XI from now on, but Rodgers may choose to bring in a new full-back altogether.

Simpson certainly has the pedigree to be a success given he is quick and has experience of winning a Premier League title, and he would be a huge hit in both the Scottish Premiership and the Europa League given he clearly wipes the floor with Lustig.
