A 'leading' Premier League figure has reportedly won a High Court anonymity order following allegations of sexually abusing a teenage girl.

According to The Athletic, the man in question – a well-known name from the Premier League – has successfully prevented his identity being revealed in a civil case following the alleged attack on a 15-year-old in the 1990s. The individual is reportedly being sued for aggravated damages by the woman.

The report adds the order was made to 'protect the interests of the defendant' and 'secure the administration of justice'. The judge also deemed there was 'no sufficient countervailing public interest' in releasing their name to the media.

The Athletic states the same accused individual has been investigated by police for other alleged non-recent sexual offences, such as previous allegations of rape and sexually abusing teenage girls. The alleged victim in the civil case reportedly contacted police towards the end of 2021 and allegedly the rape took place at the man's house.

The report adds that no further action will be taken by the Crown Prosecution Service, the man was not arrested and the case has been left 'on file'. It is understood the Football Association's safeguarding department has been made aware of these allegations.
