Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has been handed a two-match La Liga ban after being sent off for shoving Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski.

The Brazilian superstar was embroiled in controversial scenes once again during Madrid's win over Valencia when he shoved Dimitrievski in the back of the head. The incident drew a red card and angry scenes as Vinicius subsequently had to be restrained from confronting match referee Cesar Soto Grado by team-mate Antonio Rudiger. Vinicius has now been has now handed a two-game ban for violent conduct and will miss key La Liga fixtures against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid, but will be able to play in the Spanish Super Cup with Real Madrid.

Vinicius did apologise to Real Madrid fans after his red card and thanked his team-mates after seeing the 10 men recover from going 1-0 down to win 2-1. Meanwhile, manager Carlo Ancelotti felt Vinicius only deserved a yellow card and will be relieved to have only lost the Brazilian for two games against opponents in the bottom half of the table.
